Registration Process

 Option to earn 3 university credits 

2024 Tropical Field Research (10 days in Costa Rica - all inclusive - $4,350)

  1. Only Parents/Guardians may register participants using the online SOC Research portal (see blue button above). 

  2. There are opportunities for individuals (not part of an existing school/club group) to participate in Session 4 or 6. Contact us at info@SOCresearch.org with your inquiry.

  3. Pay schedule: Families pay a $150 non-refundable registration fee and can pay the balance or pay monthly with the final payment due by March 15th, 2024.

  4. All participants should obtain 3rd-party program travel insurance. Refunds for non-refundable payments are only available through 3rd-party insurance that must be purchased close to registration date to meet the requirements of most insurers.​

2024 Bioinformatics Research (9 days in Costa Rica - all inclusive - $4,350)

  1. There are opportunities for individual students to join 2024 bioinformatics programs in Monteverde, Costa Rica.

  2. This program is open to all Tropical Field Research Program alums and other individuals who have already taken biology and can demonstrate readiness for this more intensive program.

  3. Pay schedule: Families pay a $150 non-refundable registration fee and can pay the balance or pay monthly with the final payment due by March 15th, 2024.

2024 Teacher's Insect-Microbiome Antibiotic Bioprospecting (4-days $1650)

  1. Learn how to run a bioprospecting unit or semester research class at your high school.

  2. We will introduce all the protocols from insect collection to plating and PCR to bioinformatics.

  3. You will receive a detailed research manual that will guide you and your students through the curriculum.
